June 24, 2011 - Senator Mark Grisanti speaks in support of same sex marriage bill in Senate Session
“I would not respect myself if I didn’t do the research, have an open mind, and make a decision — an informed decision — based on the information before me. A man can be wiser today than yesterday, but there will be no respect for that man if he’s failed in his duty to do the work. I cannot legally come up with an argument against same-sex marriage. Who am I to say that someone does not have the same rights that I have with my wife, who I love, or to have the 1300+ rights that I share with her? […] I cannot deny that right and opportunity for someone, nor stand in the way for them to obtain the rights that I have. […] I cannot deny a person, a human being, a taxpayer, a worker, people in my district and across this state — the state of New York — and those people who make this the great state it is, the same rights that I have with my wife.”
Senator Grisanti was the 33rd vote in support of the bill.
The Cost of bin Laden: $3 Trillion Over 15 Years
The most expensive public enemy in American history died Sunday from two bullets.
As we mark Osama bin Laden’s death, what’s striking is how much he cost our nation—and how little we’ve gained from our fight against him. By conservative estimates, bin Laden cost the United States at least $3 trillion over the past 15 years, counting the disruptions he wrought on the domestic economy, the wars and heightened security triggered by the terrorist attacks he engineered, and the direct efforts to hunt him down.
Rage kill.
Now this is better than partying.

I never know what to think about my own political tribalism. I follow politics closely enough to know that President Obama has done a decidedly poor job on some issues, but upon adopting the FDR standard of “judge me by the enemies I have made” he becomes the second coming of Lincoln/Roosevelt/RFK.
Qatar is supplying anti-tank weapons to Libyan rebels in Benghazi as part of its strategy of working to overthrow the Gaddafi regime, officials in Doha have confirmed.
Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem, has said that UN resolutions on Libya permitted the supply of “defensive weapons” to opposition forces struggling to fight Libyan armour.
Qatari government officials were reluctant to be drawn on the delivery of French-made Milan missiles, thought to be by sea. “We need to send the Libyans equipment so they can defend themselves and get on with their lives,” a senior source said. “These are civilians who have had to become fighters because of the situation.”
